After a disappointing first-up performance, The Stifmeister (“Lonny”) has the opportunity to redeem himself in the Group 2 Spirit of Boom Classic (1200m) at Doomben this Saturday.
Currently rated a $67 chance in the race, trainer Stuart Kendrick believes The Stifmeister is worthy of another chance to claim Stakes glory.
“I don’t believe we got to see the best of him first up over 1000m in the Dalrello Stakes”, said Kendrick.
“He is a quality city class horse it’s just a matter of whether or not he is up to Stakes grade, if he isn’t up to them on the weekend we will spell him and bring him back after the Winter Carnival”.
Unlike the majority of the field, The Stifmeister has been tested over the 1200m where he was narrowly beaten on debut by the Les Ross trained, Mishani Enchanted.
A promising performance on Saturday could see “Lonny” contesting some of the bigger 2YO races over the Winter Carnival.
